StrongVPN is a vpn provider located in the United States (5 eyes see article)
It has 950 servers in more than 35 countries around the world.
Let’s be clear, StrongVPN is not one of the best rated vpn providers on the market for several reasons that we will detail later.
Nevertheless, a recent update has allowed for notable improvements not only in terms of performance, but also in terms of design and support for a larger number of platforms.
Admittedly, strongVPN still has some work to do when it comes to its server network, price/performance ratio and a number of features, but it seems to be moving in the right direction.
Table of contents
|Conservation of data||Officially not, but we have doubts about this.|

StrongVPN Speed and perfomances
This is one area where StrongVpn has greatly improved.
StrongVPN offers sufficient speeds to watch TV streaming in HD quality and its torrent performance is acceptable, even if it is not astonishing.
Nevertheless, we have noticed significant drops on the servers located in Eastern Europe, especially in Poland, Czech Republic and Romania.
StrongVPN : unblocking Netflix and other streaming platforms
StrongVPN does not claim to unblock specific websites, but the provider makes it clear that this is a big advantage of the service.
Netflix is the benchmark site for testing a VPN’s geographic unblocking capability. StrongVPN passed this test easily, allowing us to watch hd content from all the US servers we tested and without buffering or slowing down.
Considering the number of VPNs that were unable to get past the blocking by Netflix, this is a very good point for StrongVPN.
Curiously, it was the BBC iPlayer that caused some problems. We had to test several servers before finding one that worked.
As for the French channels, whether mycanal, rmcpost, beinsport or DTT channels, all went through without a problem.
StrongVPN with torrent
Strongvpn allows p2p but does not offer any special features. On their site it is clearly written that they do not keep any data and they even advise you to go through their server if you are downloading torrent. Nevertheless, its location in the USA makes us cautious.
We strongly advise you not to use servers located in the US.
Our tests have revealed quite good speeds overall despite some disparities between servers located in the same geographical area.
The main features of StrongVPN
Nothing fabulous in terms of functionality. Strongvpn is very simple, but it does provide the “Kill switch” function (allowing you to disconnect from the internet in the event of a vpn server failure, thus preventing your ip from being revealed inadvertently).
Furthermore, StrongVpn fails to mention that its headquarters are based in the United States (5 eyes see article).
Finally, a large number of servers still use the PPTP protocol, which is not very secure and is obsolete.
Ease of use
StrongVPN has recently updated all of its applications making them much more accessible to inexperienced users. The main screen is very basic and only displays the essential details of the connection. A limited range of settings can be found at the top of the application.
The mobile applications are also of good quality and simple to use.

StrongVpn offers a wide range of platforms but it is unfortunate that browser extensions are not available.

StrongVPN's technical support
StrongVPN technical support can be contacted in the following ways:
Most of the time, we first had to talk to a sales person who did nothing but copy and paste answers from the FAQ before being redirected to a technical advisor when they couldn’t solve our problem. This is one area where StrongVPN can still improve.
Their website has a wide variety of setup manuals for each device, including videos and screenshots. For basic instructions, the FAQ section will be sufficient, but for anything beyond that, you may need to contact technical support.

Final verdict on StrongVPN
StrongVpn suffers from a rather mediocre price-quality ratio. It is only slightly cheaper than the market leaders for a one-month subscription, but it does not offer all the guarantees, features or performance.
The fact that it is located in the United States raises serious doubts about data confidentiality, even though it claims not to keep any logs of your online activities.
To conclude, StrongVPN has improved a lot recently. Its server performance is much better since the complete redesign of their software.
We will continue to keep a close eye on this provider, which seems to be on the right track, even if it still has a lot of work to do to be able to claim to rank among the top vpn providers.
